Our first brave soul to read a book aloud to the class was Jackson G! He read a funny Sponge Bob book which the class totally enjoyed. Check out a quick clip of his read aloud. Way to go, Jackson! Meet the GREEN TEAM!Our walking field trip to the Food Pantry was a success! The rain held off and the sun came out as our class walked to St. Matthews Church to donate items and learn more about our local food pantry. Mrs. Douglas, a former Voorheesville teacher (of 32 years!), talked to us about all of the ways the food pantry serves the community, gave us a special tour of the pantry, and even let us stock our donations. Special thanks goes out to Mr. Kelly, Mrs. Esposito, Mr. Kirgan, and Mr. Rapp who walked with us this morning and kept us busy when we waited to tour the pantry. Thanks again!! Mission: NUTRITION!
First graders will be coming home with an optional but encouraged Spring Break assignment. Given that we have such a nice, long break and we have been learning about different ways to take care of our bodies, please help and encourage your child to participate in the MISSION: NUTRITION challenge! Daily challenges include things like trying new foods, turning OFF the TV, and packing a healthy snack. Participants will be invited for a special lunch date where we will have a variety of fun fruits and vegetables for them to try! Thanks for your help and support! |
